So here we are, it’s the final day of what was a pretty awesome August. Time certainly flies when you are having fun thus why the summer holidays seem to have passed by in the blink of an eye and here we are with autumn just around the corner. So without any further waffle, here are a few of the many things that I have #LikedandLoved throughout the past thirty-one days.
Alton Towers
We started our summer holidays with a trip to Derby where we spent time with family and two days enjoying the rides and various activities at the Alton Towers Resort. It was a great getaway and the weather was on our side as we were blessed with beautiful sunshine for the entirety of our visit.
Fifteen Years Married
During our visit to Alton Towers, Paul and I celebrated fifteen years of marriage and thanks to our family lending a hand we were able to enjoy a kid-free hour or two riding a couple of thrill-seekers.
The Art Studio Revamp
Though we’d hoped to paint E’s room this summer, time seems to have run by far too quickly though we did manage to empty, repaint, and refurnish what was our summer house and is now E’s beloved Art Studio. I managed to grab a bargain second-hand school desk and chair on which E is now carrying out various creative projects.
Counting Down To The Big 4-0
This month I celebrated what will be the final birthday in my thirties and whilst I don’t feel in any which way prepared nor ready to become the big 4-0 next year, we have booked the holiday of a lifetime for next summer which will at least distract me from the fact that I’m no longer thirty-anything!
Paul and the kids spoilt me rotten with gifts, cards, and flowers including a rather trendy treadmill which is currently folded behind the sofa but I will be sure to use it in order to shift some pounds before flying to Florida next year.
Let There Be Light
My lovely in-laws gave me some money for my birthday which I swiftly spent on these two gorgeous geometric copper and grey lamps for the living room. It’s amazing and quite inspiring how something as simple as a lamp, a potted plant, or an ornament can make such a vast difference to the aesthetics of a room!
E Turns Nine
My beautiful little lady E turned nine this month, she was of course spoilt rotten with cards and gifts galore and to celebrate she partied for almost the entireity of the weekend.
The Harry Potter Party
We held E’s party, to which she invited four of her friends, on the Saturday before her birthday. The house was decorated with balloons, bunting, and all sorts of decorations to match E’s requested theme of Harry Potter. The kids had great fun splashing around in the hot tub with mocktails and Music for an hour or so before coming inside and settling to watch Harry Potter on the big screen whilst guzzling an over-sized buffet fit to feed the five thousand, then enjoying karaoke, games and colouring before the party bags were handed out.
Brilliant Beads
It was pouring with rain on E’s actual birthday thus I was rather relieved to have booked an indoor event so that we could shelter from the storm. E, myself, and her two Nannas attended a special bead-craft workshop where we had fun for a few hours crafting a range of bracelets, keyrings, bookmarks, and accessories.
Swinging Into Summer
After almost seven years of wear and tear, our swing set was in need of replacing and now that the kids are that bit older we opted to replace the double swing and slide set with a single swing which is robust and sturdy enough to carry an adults weight thus can be used by us all. This particular swing was E’s main birthday gift this year and to make it that bit ‘girlier and sparklier’ I ordered six realms of rose twine garlands which, must to E’s delight, I’ve since wrapped around the swing.
Getting School Sorted
With September just around the corner, we will soon be ‘back to school‘ thus I spent a few days in August measuring the kids and ordering various items of uniform including new t-shirts, shirts, skirts, pumps, and further accessories such as bags and lunchboxes. Though I’m forever flabbergasted by the sheer amount that uniforms and school supplies cost, I’m always left with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment at having completed ‘the school shop’.
