Sadly, August has come to an end, summer is no longer… School is about to start for September and whilst I’m not entirely sure as to whether or not I’m ready to commence with the chaos, the time is nigh. So without further ado, here are a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout August.
Thirteen Years Wed
As of this month, Paul and I have been married for thirteen years. It doesn’t feel like thirteen years have passed since we walked down the aisle but I guess time flies both when you’re having fun and when you’ve got kids – I seriously believe that time flicked to double speed the moment that the kids came along.
Fabulous Family & Friends
It’s been six long months since lockdown first began and though we’ve kept in touch with family and friends online, it’s just not the same, is it? This month we met up with family and friends whom we haven’t seen since before Christmas, it felt so good to get together.
Thirty-Something
It was my birthday this month, I’m now thirty-something else which is far too close to forty for my liking. I was spoilt rotten with perfume, tarot cards, a beautiful tarot box, a massage voucher, bath bombs, new baking bowls, and all sorts of wonderful gifts from friends and family. Though we remained at home, we still celebrated in style with a movie and a meal.
So E’s Seven
It’s official, I am now ‘seven-eleven’ as I am the proud parent to both an eleven-year-old (as J turned 11 back in May) and a seven-year-old as E also celebrated her birthday this month. Thankfully the sun shone and we were able to enjoy a safe social gathering with our family and friends from the comfort of our back garden. E was spoilt with piles of presents – she was given all sorts of stuff including a tent, a new Barbie house, a lava lamp, Frozen Lego sets, a brand new plush bunny toy, a basketball, DVDs, a sleeping bag, oh the list is endless…
School Ready
This month saw us collecting the final items for our ‘return to school’, Clarks have certainly made their money from us with both J & E bringing the bill to well over a ton’s worth of leather. At least they are both ‘school ready’ though I’m not sure they will feel quite so ready when that alarm beeps on the first morning back.
Driveway Dreams
We’ve been meaning to extend our driveway ever since we first moved into this house. Though we have a double driveway, the placing of the wall makes parking rather tight and a few years back I had a little incident with the wall which resulted in a hole in both the car and my pocket…
This month Paul has removed part of the wall, he’s extended the driveway with new brickwork which has given us a pathway and he then removed the grass from the front garden and we’ve since replaced what was an unused square of grass surrounded by a patchy border with beautiful, white chippings which with a few pot plants, fairy houses (for our daughter’s benefit) and a sundial looks incredible.
Arranging The Attic
Following Paul very kindly switching the attic ladders around to face the correct way, I’ve since had access to our attic which resulted in me spending almost an entire day with bin bags and boxes sorting and arranging the piles of STUFF which we’ve slung into the attic over the years, and as a result, I now have a clean, tidy, organised attic space – August has certainly been the month for accomplishment!
Marvelous Massages
Thanks to the amazing Amber, I’ve enjoyed not one but TWO amazing massages this month. It’s been far too long since I’ve been able to have beauty treatments such as eyebrows waxes (not so much fun) and massages. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to finally be able to relax for an hour and to enjoy a little time out of the house, in the talented hands of a good friend.
Cosmic Cycles
As I said earlier in this post, I was gifted a brand new tarot deck for my birthday – The Cosmic Cycles Tarot. I’ve been wanting and waiting for this deck for what feels like forever and now it’s finally in my hands I’m really enjoying reading with it.
Family Fun In The Sun
Though we’ve not been able to get away this summer, we’ve made the most of every moment as a family and I will treasure that time in my memory for years to come. We’ve lazed on the decking in the sunshine, we’ve paddled in the pool, we’ve squirted each other with water guns, we’ve watched movies, we’ve played games, we’ve enjoyed walks on the beach, we’ve played in the park and most importantly, we’ve enjoyed the time together as a family.
