August is such a busy month for our family; we have our wedding anniversary, my birthday, our daughters birthday all of which keep us entertained and busy throughout the summer holidays. Here are a few of the things which I have ‘Liked and Loved’ throughout the past month.
Our Eleventh Wedding Anniversary
Paul and I celebrated eleven years of marriage by sharing a delicious meal at the local italian restaurant, we then danced our socks off to a live band who were playing at our local pub. We had a fantastic night although there were a few aches and pains the following morning!
Making Memories
After saying our final goodbyes to our Taz friends in late July, we were more than surprised to have one last visit almost a week later following what we assumed was their departure. To mark the occasion and to give our friends the best send off possible, we covered our table with food and drink and brought the crew together one last time to say a final-final goodbye before Lisa and Paddy made their lengthy journey back to the other side of the World (which is precisely where they may be reading this from now, if so – WE MISS YOU GUYS!)
Loving Lloret
Having spent almost the entire year planning and preparing for our much-awaited holiday to Lloret De Mar, we finally flew out to Gerona and made a start on our holidays. We had the most fabulous week away and I only wish we could do it all over again. The kids enjoyed every moment and were a pure pleasure to watch, I only hope we can do something similar next year.
Food With The Family At Santon Bridge
To celebrate my turning thirty-something years of age, we went out to the Santon Bridge Cafe and Tea Rooms with the children and my in-laws. We had a fantastic meal which was obviously pretty impressive as even the children ate which is saying something! Having stuffed ourselves silly we then drove up to the recent park installation at Seascale where the children (and ourselves) had much fun putting all the new equipment to the test.
Holiday Handbags
Whilst on holiday in Lloret De Mar, I spotted this rather pretty, pink handbag. Given that my birthday wasn’t far away, Paul seized the opportunity and very kindly bought this beauty as one of my gifts. I’m rather fond of my new bag, not only as it’s perfectly pink but also because it has a tonne of pockets ideal for stuffing all kinds of bits and pieces into (mostly kids stuff no doubt but still very useful storage space!).
Burny Bin Bliss
According to tradition, eleven years marked our ‘steel anniversary’. We had been looking into the idea of getting a fire pit for the garden for some time, we then spotted a few converted washing machine drums, steel drums to be precise and decided that this would probably be the better option. After hearing about our idea, my parents ordered a pre-made washing machine drum with a stand as an anniversary gift for us. We have used the burny bin almost every day since we received it, it is one of the most fabulous fires I have ever seen!
Our Little Ladies Fifth Birthday
I can barely believe that five years have passed by since our perfect princess first came into this World. We celebrated in style, unicorn style to be precise! I put my best efforts into making a unicorn themed cake and then following this we threw a unicorn themed party, all of which our daughter adored.
The Princesses Party
A few days following E’s fifth birthday, we threw her a rather big ‘unicorn themed’ bash at the local sports centre. The kids had an amazing time running and jumping about on the various bouncy castles, soft play and such-like. We then loaded both the children and the adults with an extensive amount of sugar and everyone left with a smile on their chops.
Summer Holidays
The summer holidays are sadly coming to a close now. However, it has been an amazing six weeks filled with fun and frivolities. Although we’ve travelled abroad and had many days out and about, we’ve spent a lot of time at home especially at the beginning of the holidays as we had such good weather. Whilst I’m a little sad that the summer is now over, I’m ready to get back into a routine and I’m certain that the children are ready to return to school.
Clearing Clutter & Bedroom Blitzing
Unbeknown to J & E, I spent almost four hours clearing both of their bedrooms the other day. It felt really good to get rid of the junk and to finally bin all the broken bits and bobs which they had hoarded. I’ve spent time reorganising each of their storage shelves and have labelled everything accordingly to make play equipment easy to access.

It looks like you had such a great summer – holidays, friends and so much time together. It feels like it ended so recently yet a whole month has passed. How did that happen?! x
It was awesome! Now it’s freezing and feels like a million years ago.
