It’s been a week since my tooth extraction and I can finally say that I’m feeling a whole lot better. I have been in so much pain it’s been unreal!
A few days after having my wisdom tooth ripped out I contracted an infection in the wound and the whole thing became so inflamed that I was barely able to conduct a conversation never mind eat or drink.
Thankfully I now feel a little better and I can now happily chat and munch away to my heart’s content. I am still using mild pain relief but otherwise I am over the worst.
Apologies for my lack of posts but I haven’t felt like doing much of anything other than sofa surfing or sleeping. I have also been rather busy despite being unwell, I have had numerous social gatherings throughout the week which have all been lovely but were rather exhausting considering the state I was in.
Prior to having children I had a few close friends but never really socialised as such. These days it’s a different story as I am regularly sticking the kettle on and having a natter with friends.
I have met some wonderful people through my children at various play groups, school events and after school clubs. Each one of these wonderful women have changed my life in some way or other, whether it’s through providing me with company, offering me a shoulder to cry on, giving good advice, cracking a joke, filling me in on the latest gossip or simply offering me a smile over the school yard, it means the World to me.
There was once a time when I only saw my friends once or twice throughout the year, these days my diary is filled with ‘catch ups’ and ‘coffee dates’ almost every other day. It’s made such a difference to my life, though I’ve probably been pretty crap company over the past few days.
Since I first began blogging almost a year ago now, I have also established some new friendships online. I didn’t expect blogging to bring about such wonderful feedback or to meet such lovely people. It’s almost like being part of a community.
Have you ever seen that episode of Peppa Pig where all of her friends and her family join ‘Secret Club’? Well blogging can be a bit like that at times, you certainly feel like you are sitting and sharing each other’s feelings, thoughts, latest news and sometimes even secrets whilst reading another bloggers posts.
I can’t wait to go to the next Blog On conference and to catch up with all those other bloggers that I regularly read and chat to.
I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends, such a lot has changed throughout the past few years. I have certainly come to realise what actually matters. It isn’t money, it isn’t having the perfect career, it isn’t living in a large house, it isn’t driving a brand new car, it’s the non-material goods that matter. Family, friends and all those that have your back when the chips are down.
On that note, I am off to stick to the kettle on. Fancy a brew?
