Life is slowly and steadily returning to a new sort of ‘normal’ and boy does it feel good to enjoy a slice of normality for once.
It’s been almost a year since I last had my hair cut and though I’m well aware it’s very much a ‘first world issue’ – I’ve put up with having thick, lengthy locks for months now and it was beginning to get slightly unmanageable.
Late last week I finally ‘went for the chop’ – it was so nice to take some time to have my hair cut, straightened, and styled by a professional, that and to have my eyebrows waxed back into a sleek shape rather than continuing to cope with the curly caterpillars which they had become.
It was such a luxury to spend time having a bit of a pamper, that and to just get out and about for a change, though I was still slightly anxious given that I’m still waiting for my first vaccine never mind my second. Things were looking really hopeful until recent news of a third wave of the virus possibly hitting us in the summer – it’s really put me on edge. I’m just not sure how much longer I can cope with being cooped up… I want to get out, to enjoy the sunshine, to see my friends, to spend time with my family, and to just do NORMAL things again, though more than anything I just want to feel safe and secure rather than stressed and scared.
Here’s hoping that the ‘path out of lockdown’ continues to be a success and that we can get back to living our lives without the worries that have cast their shadows upon us for the past year or more.
