Autumn has officially arrived, the temperature has dropped, the leaves are beginning to drop from the trees, the nights are drawing in earlier as each day goes by and the shorts have been swapped for scarves.
Being a lady that has a love for lists, I have put together a few action points for Autumn. I would ideally like to achieve all of the belowĀ but realistically speaking I am well aware that life has limitations.
Go Out For A Meal With Friends
We have been promising our good friends Steph and James that we will meet them for a meal for months now but haven’t had the time nor money to do so. With a little luckĀ and a child free eveningĀ we may eventually manage to make this happen!
Take Away With Friends
Having enjoyed a take away with our good friends Ali & Duane earlier last month we are hoping to stay in touch and to share further ‘take away / fake away Fridays’ in the near future.
Watch Tori Amos & London Grammar Live
Having already booked our tickets for Tori Amos, I look forward to enjoying a child-free evening with the hubby as we venture to Manchester to watch the wonderful woman who is my Musical heroin perform live once again.
London Grammar
My parents very kindly treated us to tickets to see London Grammar for my birthday, although the tickets are yet to arrive we are already super excited about seeing London Grammar play live at The Apollo.
A Girls Day Out
It’s been a long time since my Mother and I had a day out together, actually its been a long time since my Mother and I spent any time together whatsoever. With Christmas fast approaching I think it may well be worth planning a girls shopping trip for us both to enjoy without the distractions of children, husbands and such-like.
Pamper Package
Every now and then I book myself in for a little R&R with my good friend Amber. It’s been far too long since I was laid on the massage table and given that I’ve run around like a blue-backsided-fly for the past few months I feel no guilt in booking some time out to de-stress.
Comedy Night
Paul and I are off to see the well-known comic Jason Manford in a week or two. Whilst this has already been booked and planned for, I am hoping to add a little socialising to the mix with our good friends who will also be in the audience that night. It’s high time we had a few drinks out on the town!
Weight Loss
Having made such fantastic progress with my weight loss over the past few months I aim to continue shedding the pounds, ideally losing a further stone by Christmas.
Supply Teaching
Now that E has started School I can finally focus on my career goals. I am planning to contact the local supply agencies and hopefully pick up a few days Teaching to get myself back into the classroom and back into action.
Apply For Jobs
Along with Supply Teaching I plan to continue applying for jobs here, there and everywhere. As you will know from reading past posts I have had no luck whatsoever as of yet. Heres hoping that with a few tweeks to my CV and a little effort lady luck may be on my side and I’ll find a suitable role.
To Master Mixing
Having finally managed to source a set of decks for myself I am yet to master the art of ‘mixing Music’. I am hoping to give this a spin over the next couple of months with guidance from friends and YouTube tutorials.
To Make Sticky Toffee Pudding
Ever since my friends Gran passed away I’ve been meaning to put her famous ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’ recipe to good use. Now that Autumn has arrived and the season for ‘hot puddings’ is upon us I feel I should give this a go.
To Make The Very Best Of Blog On
This time next week I will hopefully be brimming with ideas following a trip to Manchester where I am attending the autumn ‘Blog On‘ conference. I have been to Blog On twice before and am looking forward to catching up with fellow bloggers whilst hopefully learning a few tricks of the trade to put into action on this here blog.
To Make A Start On The Christmas Shopping
It’s never too early to make a start on the Christmas shopping when you have two children! Having listened carefully to the children’s wish lists I have already made a mental note on the items which I need to order. I plan to make a start upon this over the next few weeks…
To Go For A Beach Ride
My husband kindly gave me a ‘horse riding’ voucher for my birthday which entitles me to a 2.5 hour beach ride on the local shoreline. I am hoping to put voucher into action when I have a weekend free.
To Have A Happy Halloween
My family and I really enjoy Halloween, we decorate the house and we make sweet treats. This year however I would like to put a little more effort into the outdoor decorations by adding a few lights and some kind of spooky ‘door decor’. I would also like to look into collecting some professional pumpkin carving equipment in hope that I may master the art of making some seriously spooktacular pumpkin creations!
Bonfire Night Bonanza
Theres nothing better on Bonfire Night than wrapping up warm and heading out to the local community centre to watch the fireworks display with the kids and their friends. As always, we will be taking the children to watch the local display then heading home for hot snacks and a hot bath.
To Teach E How To Write Her Name
Now that E has started School I feel it is high time she learnt how to write her name. We’ve used tracing guides and all kinds of encouraging activities to help E learn to write but up until now she’s shown very little interest in using a pen or pencil for anything other than drawing. Over the next month or two I’d like to make a focused effort on her reading and writing and hopefully by Christmas she may be able to sign her own cards!
To Improve J’s Spelling Work
J seems to struggle massively with his spelling and although we’ve worked hard with J to learn spellings prior to the summer holidays it seems to have slipped his memory. I’m hoping to find and to work upon some schemes of work to assist J with his spelling work which were recommended to me over the summer.
To Replace The Patio Doors
Paul and I have a list of doors and windows which need replacing around the house. Given that we have limited funds at present we are planning to replace each window or door in turn over time. I would like to make a start upon this by replacing the rather battered and blown patio doors with french doors which will open out onto the decking.
Iād love to read your Autumn Bucket List, please feel free to comment below with your ideas, suggestions or share links to your own lists for me to read below.
