It’s official, my hubby is only five years away from hitting the big 4-0, that said it won’t be long before I join him in being thirty-five years young.
As expected and deserved, Paul has been spoilt rotten with gifts and goodies galore. He woke first thing this morning to a pile of cards and presents (one of which happened to be from our rather haggard, old basset hound but I won’t go into detail upon that).
After making himself comfortable with a coffee on the couch Paul was then inundated with presents which the kids took great pleasure in helping him to open. He may be thirty-five but Paul seems to have regained his youth as he was given a brand, spanking new pair of roller blades which he will hopefully put into use with myself and the kids come Friday at the roller-disco.
Along with the blades (which the children have spent the past three-four hours strapping themselves into and rolling through our kitchen at speed upon) Paul was also given a wood-effect, Amazon Echo which now has pride of place in our living room, a couple of Neil Gaiman books, money and a rather swish Craghopper Coat which seemed to fit perfectly and will no doubt be worn later whilst out on a dog walk.
As requested by our resident chocoholic J, I spent an hour or two ‘giving it some’ with my electric whisk yesterday to make ‘Delia’s Delightful Squidgy Chocolate Log’. Paul seemed fairly pleased with the results and whilst I’m yet to try a slice myself, it’s apparently popular as the majority of it has already been eaten!
We haven’t made any plans as such for today, it’s been quite nice just to sit back and relax with family and friends rather than braving the weather as its baltic out there!
As far as I’m concerned there’s nothing better than sitting back and eating cake whilst playing board games tucked up warm and dry with the kids. Come this evening I’m sure we will crack open a bottle or two and enjoy a few more episodes of ‘Orange Is The New Black’, either that or chose a movie to watch.
