Like the rest of the UK, we are currently in lockdown and having been isolated for almost a fortnight now, cabin fever is beginning to set in.
The kids have kept themselves busy with homeschooling activities, baking, painting, drawing, board games, movies and of course their beloved technology, which for once I’m quite thankful for.
In order to battle the boredom, I’ve been sure to keep a bank of resources set aside for those moments when the kids don’t quite know what to do with themselves, one of which is a ten-minute test both upon your eyes and your knowledge of endangered species.
Vizulize, an online pharmaceutical company specialising in a range of eye treatment products (such as contact lens solutions and such like) have recently launched the ‘Can You Guess The Pixelated Animal’ game. This is a free game that you can play with your little ones to promote their knowledge of animals and the concept of endangerment and extinction.
We decided to give this game a go and although the eight pictures were quite difficult to decipher, the kids did their best and soon came to the correct conclusions. Once they selected the correct animal they were then presented with further information upon each of the species, which they then read and we have discussed.
This is a quick and easy, educational activity which both children and adults can learn from together – it’s certainly something that our children enjoyed even if it was shortlived, I’m hoping the information may last a lifetime.
