Our Daughter, The Doll Devotee
My daughter E is the typical ‘girly girl’, she loves anything glittery, fluffy or pink and seems to take great pleasure in playing with stereotypical little girls toys including dolls which she has continuously collected throughout the years.
We have had almost every doll imaginable: realistic baby dolls, Barbie dolls, dolls that can be dressed up, dolls that cry, dolls that pee and now we have the doll that can poop! Seriously…
The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll
Our Little Princess was very kindly sent the Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise Doll from the Lalaloopsy Babies range to play with to rate and review for her Mummy’s many readers.
I have been umming and arring how exactly to write this review professionally but given that we are all adults here I guess a little toilet humour can’t harm anyone.
So excuse my potty mouth for I am an honest reviewer and quite frankly, it’s almost impossible not to include a little toilet talk when reviewing a product thats main aim is to squeeze out surprises.
Surprise!
I have to say that when we first received our Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll it was me that showed the most surprise. I never thought in a million years that there would be such thing as a doll that s**ts shapes but apparently there is a market for everything these days.
Even in its packaging The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll was an instant hit with E. Being predominantly pink and having the potential to create some serious mess, this product seems to tick just about every box in our little ladies book.
Whats Included?
Whilst this doll seems to be hugely appealing to our daughter, the notion of anything able to stir excitement from excrement baffled me. E on the other hand seemed ridiculously excited about this doll and was desperate for us to remove the packaging so that she could get her sticky mitts on the goods.
Upon opening the Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll we found the following items were included:
- 1 x Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll (with a pink dummy attached and removable pink underwear)
- 1 x Pot Pink Kinetic Sand
- 1 x Pot Purple Kinetic Sand
- 1 x Pot Orange Kinetic Sand
- 1 x Pink Spoon
- 1 x Pink Feeding Bowl
- 1 x Pink Potty
- 1 x Instructions Sheet
Potty Performance – How Does It Work?
We opened the pots of sand and placed a small amount of orange kinetic sand into the feeding bowl. E then removed the dolls dummy from her mouth, pressed the sand into the measuring spoon and began feeding her doll the colourful concoction.
My husband and I carefully followed the instructions, setting the dial on the back of the doll to a given point and twisting her tummy button to create a surprise shape. We found that twisting the dolls belly button was quite tough and may therefore be difficult for little hands to manipulate.
Once E’s Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise doll was fed and prepped E then placed her onto the potty, rocking her back and forth as instructed which in turn places pressure upon the release button down below.
As expected, The Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise doll then plopped a surprise shape into the potty for all to admire.
What Goes In Must Come Out!
Basically, the Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll lives on a diet of brightly coloured kinetic sand which she then internally sculpts surprise shapes from and as the good saying goes “what goes in must come out”.
Suitable for children ages four years and over, The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll is able to make up to four different shapes all of which can be created using pink, purple or orange kinetic sand (included) which is to be fed to the doll using the bowl and spoon (also included) to ensure accurate amounts which will in turn result in ‘perfectly shaped and styled stools’.
Sh*ts And Giggles
My husband and I were in hysterics as we watched our daughter jumping for joy each and every time her Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise Doll pooped a pattern. We were half expecting for our daughter to wonder if she herself could make some shapes on the throne, luckily this hasn’t happened as of yet but theres still time.
For the past fortnight E has requested to play with her Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise Doll on a daily basis, it is currently her favourite toy to play with. We tend to keep the doll and its many pots of sand at the table during play as much like play dough it can get quite messy at times.
Despite the inevitable mess that this dumping dolly creates and the fact that with its button-style eyes it bares some resemblance to Lenore the garish comic goth doll, the Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll seems to be hugely popular with our little lady and if she likes it then thats all that matters right?
Pricing & Where To Purchase The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll
The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll is available from a wide range of high street and online retailers including Toys R Us, The Entertainer, Smyths Toys and Argos.
My Final Thoughts Upon The Doll That Do-Dos
As a parent I wouldn’t have necessarily chosen this product to purchase for my child/children but following a fortnight of seeing the Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll in ‘lavatorial’ action I can certainly see it’s appeal. It has provided the kids and us adults with huge amounts of entertainment over the past few weeks and has quickly become a firm favourite.
Although this product is aimed at children aged four and over, The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll would make the ideal companion for a child that is in the process of potty or toilet training. It certainly brings a little humour and a whole lot of fun to the topic of toileting.
Having seen for myself the sheer excitement and wonder that this shape moulding, poop shooting doll has brought to our kids I would certainly recommend The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll as a gift or or toy for young children.
