For the past four years Paul and I have taken part in a year round tradition which we refer to as ‘The Happiness Jar’. Throughout the year we write down special memories, positive points, good times and such like onto small pieces of a small piece of paper which we date, fold and place into the Happiness Jar.
Upon New Years Eve Paul and I empty the jar into a large bowl and spend an hour or so taking turns to read each piece of paper out loud sharing our special times and reflecting upon all the happy memories from the year gone by.
This is a tradition which we have kept up and look forward to each year. We are hoping that as the kids get older they too will become involved in our family tradition of contributing to and sharing reading the contents of ‘The Happiness Jar’ and perhaps one day have a jar of their own for their partners and children to share.
Times certainly flown by fast as tomorrow night Paul and I will once again open ‘The Happiness Jar’ and reflect upon the good times from 2016, yet another year gone by filled with some fabulous memories.
Do you have a New Years Eve tradition? I’d love to hear all about it, you can let me know by either commenting upon this post below, dropping me an email or sending me a message on my many social media pages.

I love this idea, Our new year’s Eve tradition, is to watch Jules Holland and his annual hootenanny, sadl, since, my stroke, we are both too tired ( my husband is mycarer, so we are both shattered. by nine o clock!, So now we record it and watch the following day, which is better, than not watching, at all Happy new year!
What a lovely idea Rachel it must be lovely to sit and read on new years eve. One of my highlights this year was meeting you, you are so lovely and supportive and I hope we get to meet up next year again. I hope 2017 brings you lots more happy memories and success xx
Thanks so much Angela, me too! I look forward to working with you soon :)))
I love this idea, we are definitely going to do it this year. It’s such a lovely thing to do and I know my children will really enjoy it too. #TuesdayTreasures

Adore this, what was your favourite note this year? Mine are always the ones about things I’ve forgotten that made me smile 🙂 #tuesdaytreasures
Hmm there was one about Josh’s sports day which made me smile.
What a fantastic idea. Such a great way to conserve memories of things you might otherwise have forgotten! And to relive the good moments of the past year. I love it! #TuesdayTresures
