The children have been back at school for a fortnight now, they both seem incredibly happy and settled with their new teachers in their new classrooms and likewise, if my children are happy – then I too am a happy bunny.
In order to support and to strengthen our children’s learning, we spend about an hour each evening sat at the table working upon their reading, writing, spelling, mathematics and or any other subject they may have brought home to research or revise. Thankfully, the kids seem quite happy to sit and to do their homework each evening, they too understand that it’s an important part of the day which has become part of their regular routine.
I love sitting and listening to the kids read, especially now that J is able to read text fluently and often adds a range of voices, accents and expression. He can be quite humorous at times, he certainly has his own ideas and loves nothing more than putting his own spin on things by breaking the mould and venturing outside of the box. E on the other hand is rather academically minded when it comes to her school work, metaphorically speaking she tends to colour inside the lines and stick to a structure.
It’s funny really, Both the children and I spend all day in the classroom. Yet upon arriving home, other than getting into comfy clothes, nothing really changes. We carry on, we continue – as together, as a family, we love to learn.
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

These look like great resources! Ideal for my kids too! #LivingArrows
It’s great that they enjoy doing their homework. Although Toby enjoys school, getting him to do homework or read at home can sometimes be a bit of a struggle! #LivingArrows
It’s so lovely that they both love to learn and I love how different they are in how they learn and how they put the learning into practice x
Thanks Donna – they are very different but god do I love them 🙂
We’ve just started doing the same now that Monkey has gone into year 2. Love how they are so different, I think my two will be the same. X #LivingArrows
